Chair Yoga (Sit, Stay, Heal)

Chair yoga gives one the opportunity to practice classical Hatha yoga poses that are modified to be carried out while sitting in the comfort and safety of a chair. This type of class is great for seniors and those with injuries. Recommended for those who find it difficult to move up and down from the floor (knee, hip, joint, arthritis concerns), or want a gentle alternative to their practice.

Gentle

Give yourself some TLC. Gentle Yoga is nurturing, relaxing, and well supported allowing time for the body to heal, repair and slowly build flexibility. There is plenty of time to focus on breathing. Yoga props such as blankets, bolsters, and straps are used to support and embrace you in various poses. Gentle yoga is recommended for beginners and yogis of any level looking to take it easy.

Hatha Yoga

WARNING: Side effects of Hatha Yoga include increased balance, more flexibility (physically and mentally) and an enhanced connection to your highest self!  In Hatha Yoga, we come into the breath and quiet the mind as we find familiarity and solid ground in asanas (yoga postures).  Each class offers personal modifications and emphasizes integrating mind, body, energy, and breath–all within a playful, supportive environment. All levels of practice are welcome.

Iyengar

Do you appreciate attention to details?  This form of yoga emphasizes significant attention to detail and precise alignment of postures based on the principles of B.K.S. Iyengar, Iyengar Yoga also emphasizes holding poses over longer periods of time increasing focus, building strength and stamina and developing patience.  This style of practice is all about bringing the body into its best possible alignment, often using props such as yoga blankets, blocks, and straps to assist students as necessary. All levels invited.

Kundalini Yoga

Cha-cha-chakra! Kundalini yoga classes use breath, movement, mantra, and meditation to heal the mind, body, and spirit. Each class consists of a kriya (a series of postures taught in sequence to produce a desired outcome).  Kriyas inspire students to open their heart, and deepen their awareness. They help one connect with their creative energy, and balance the chakras. The kriyas also aid in stimulating the immune, glandular and nervous systems. Kundalini helps to build physical vitality and is an incredible resource for accessing your true self and awakening to your purpose. Classes are open to students at all levels of experience.

Level 1 – Beginner

Level 1 classes are designed for students with no experience, little experience, as well as the seasoned practitioner. The basics and fundamental poses are presented at a slow-paced direction and a great level of detail so they can become familiar with basic yoga poses and use of the breath. These classes focus on combining proper alignment with breathing techniques and the use of props in your practice.

Restorative

Ahh, Restorative Yoga, the spa class of yoga classes. Restorative Yoga is a deeply relaxing way of practicing yoga. Given props, the student achieves poses without much muscular strength, facilitating deep release in the connective tissue and calming the nervous system. Teachers may offer a meditative focus.  All levels welcome.

Aroma Yoga®

Restorative Aroma Yoga® is an opportunity to restore balance both mentally and physically. In today’s fast-paced, technologically driven world we are overloaded with massive amounts of information and artificial stimulus triggering the sympathetic nervous system’s ‘flight or fight’ response, also known as the stress response. In this practice, we will be using essential oils specifically chosen for their calming, grounding and stress-relieving properties, gentle movements, restorative poses, and stillness to create space for our bodies and mind to relax, in turn activating the parasympathetic nervous system’s ‘rest and digest’ response. Poses will be held for longer periods of time to release the tension commonly stored in the connective tissue of the body. Enjoy giving yourself this time to unwind and let go.

Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic Yoga is particularly effective practice for those recovering from, or living with, injury or illness. Therapeutic Yoga combines Restorative Yoga (supported postures), Gentle Yoga, breathwork, hands-on healing and guided meditation techniques in such a way that it is an excellent choice for those who need something gentle yet effective for bringing the body into balance and reducing stress. Therapeutic Yoga is a deeply meditative experience – it provides the opportunity to step away from the busyness of the outside world and access the deeper wisdom that resides within us.

Vinyasa/Flow

Let it go! Let it flow! If you resist routine and love a physical challenge, this class style is for you.  Vinyasa flow typically begins with gentle movements to warm the body then steadily builds into more challenging sequences that flow from one to the other often including sun salutations. Instructors design their classes to smoothly transition from pose to pose, with the intention of linking breath to movement, and often play music to keep things lively. Level 1-2

Yin Yang

Couldn’t we all use a little more balance in our lives?  Yin-Yang promises to deliver just that!  Begin with a dynamic sequence designed to build heat and boost strength (yang).  Then transition into quieter, cooler postures with an eye toward opening the body to increase flexibility (yin).  Finish with a blissful final rest and you have all the ingredients for a complete practice that will leave you feeling harmonized and whole.

All levels welcome.

Yin Yoga

Slowing down…  This special practice affords us the opportunity to slow down and go deep.  Stretches with luxuriously long holds help to open the body and its connective tissues in a way that can be surprisingly intense.  Learn to sit with whatever sensations arise while developing a calm and peaceful focus.  Leave feeling both supremely relaxed and energized – all at the same time!  All levels welcome.
